Georgia Man Charged with Impersonating a Department of Energy Employee in Order to Gain Access to the Port of Albany

ALBANY, NEW YORK – Andrew Avila, age 49, of Acworth, Georgia, was indicted last week for pretending to be a Department of Energy employee in order to gain entry and access to the Port of Albany.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon and U.S. Department of Energy Inspector General Teri L. Donaldson.

The Port of Albany is a transportation hub where vessel and rail freight are shipped and received; access to the Port is restricted pursuant to federal regulations.

Hairston, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina, and North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein today announced a $330,000 settlement to resolve allegations that Dr. George Osei-Bonsu, M.D., Palladium Primary Care, P.A., and Premiere Health Care Plus, P.A., of Greensboro and High Point, submitted false claims to Medicaid and Medicare.

Former New York DEA Investigator Convicted Of Enticing A Minor To Have Sex And Child Pornography Charges

Audrey Strauss, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today the conviction in Manhattan federal court of FREDERICK L. SCHEININ for attempted production of child pornography, attempted receipt of child pornography, and attempted enticement of a minor.  The jury convicted SCHEININ today following a five-day trial before U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff.

          SANTA ANA, California – Twin brothers – both former Orange County sheriff’s deputies – pleaded guilty today to federal charges and admitted that they defrauded Orange County taxpayers by submitting approximately two dozen fraudulent military orders to obtain military leave from the Sheriff’s Department so they would not be docked vacation days.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — An indictment was unsealed following the arrest of an Acampo man Monday, Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.

On June 10, a federal grand jury returned a six-count indictment against Robert Allen Pooley, 46, of Acampo, charging him with wire fraud and aggravated identity theft related to tandem parachuting courses.

Former Cedar Rapids Hospital Employee Sentenced for Accessing Ex-Boyfriend’s Medical Records

A former Cedar Rapids hospital employee, who wrongfully accessed and distributed her ex-boyfriend’s medical records, was sentenced on June 14, 2021.  Jennifer Lynne Bacor, age 41, from Las Vegas, Nevada, received probation after pleading guilty to one count of wrongfully obtaining individually identifiable health information under false pretenses.
