Audit of Selected Internal Controls Legal Aid of East Tennessee
This report updates prior reports dealing with grants administered by ARC for which no payments have been made at least 24 months since grant approval, grants with expiration dates and remaining balances, smaller and zero balances
We identified the animals ARS used for parasitic disease research and determined that ARS no longer uses animals subject to the Animal Welfare Act for this type of research.
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) completed a final action verification of all 10 recommendations in our April 28, 2015, report on Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs (Audit Report 27601-0001-41). Final action verification determines whether the final action documentation the agency provides to the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) supports the agency’s management decision reached with OIG.1, 2 Our objective was to determine whether the documentation FNS provided OCFO was sufficient to close the recommendations made in Audit Report 27601-0001-41.
This report summarizes work that we initiated and completed during this semiannual period on a number of critical Departmental activities. Over the past 6 months, our office issued 13 products related to our audit, evaluation, and inspection work. These products addressed programs and personnel associated with the U.S. Census Bureau (the Bureau), First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet), National Oceanic andAtmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and the Department itself. This report also describes our investigative activities addressing programs and personnel associated with the Bureau, International Trade Administration(ITA), NOAA, National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), and USPTO.
