Report Description

Back in 2009, the U.S. Postal Service developed USPS Mobile, an app that allows consumers to find the nearest Post Office, schedule a pick-up, put their mail on hold, or track packages. USPS Mobile holds its own against similar apps created by the Postal Service’s competitors. However, working with a digital-mobile strategy expert and a marketing analysis firm, the Postal Service Office of Inspector General has identified opportunities for the Postal Service to expand its mobile offerings. In this paper we present 10 ideas – five ways to enhance USPS Mobile, and five potential new apps – that the Postal Service could develop and thus attract more customers, generate additional revenue, and improve customer service. Through innovative mobile offerings, the Postal Service has an opportunity to stay ahead of the curve and provide customers with the best possible service anywhere, anytime.
