Acting United States Attorney Dennis R. Holmes announced today that a Waubay, South Dakota, woman convicted of Federal Program Theft was sentenced on May 4, 2021, by Chief Judge Roberto A. Lange, U.S. District Court.

Miami, Fl. – A South Florida female who stole cash deposits from different retailers participating in the U.S. Postal Service Deposit by Mail program was sentenced today to five years’ probation, 180 days of home detention, and ordered to pay $49,235.42 in restitution.

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Acting United States Attorney Glenn McCormick announced today that Neurosurgical Associates, LTD and Dignity Health, d/b/a St. Joseph’s Hospital, agreed to pay $10 million to resolve civil allegations that they violated the federal False Claims Act (FCA).

POCATELLO – Robert Bailey, 63, of Centreville, Virginia, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for paying a bribe to a public official, Acting U.S. Attorney Rafael M. Gonzalez, Jr. announced today. U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill also imposed a $100,000 fine and a term of three years of supervised release to follow Bailey’s prison sentence.

BOSTON – A former North Shore resident was arrested today in connection with allegedly filing a fraudulent loan application in order to obtain over $660,000 in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan funds and using those funds for personal expenses, including an alpaca farm in Vermont.

PHILADELPHIA—Acting United States Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams announced that Incyte Corporation, headquartered in Delaware, has agreed to pay $12.6 million to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by using a foundation as a conduit to pay the copays of Medicare and TRICARE patients taking Incyte’s drug Jakafi. TRICARE is the health care program for uniformed service members, retirees, and their families.

HOUSTON – A 58-year-old resident of Richmond has been ordered to prison for 25 years following her convictions of conspiracy and aiding and abetting health care fraud, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Jennifer B. Lowery. A Houston jury returned guilty verdicts against Brenda Rodriguez in January 2019 following a three-day trial.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A 29-year-old Corpus Christi man has been ordered to federal prison after he admitted to devising a scheme to fraudulently misappropriate $255,052 in unemployment benefits meant for those suffering financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Jennifer B. Lowery. William Cleveland Peck pleaded guilty Oct. 22, 2020.
