AUGUSTA, GA: Two Georgia companies and their owners have agreed to pay $900,000 to resolve allegations that they provided unapproved substitute parts to the U.S. Army and that they violated the Buy American Act.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Wayne H. Kruger, 73, of Litchfield, Illinois, was sentenced on September 9, 2021, to 36 months in federal prison, to be followed by 5 years of supervised release, for defrauding several banks in Central Illinois.

LEXINGTON, Ky.— Michael McNew, former resident of Mt. Sterling, was sentenced to 86 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Court Judge Karen C. Caldwell for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, in furtherance of a crop insurance fraud scheme.  Shortly thereafter, Roger Wilson, resident of Mt. Sterling, was sentenced to 12 months in federal prison, also by Judge Caldwell, for conspiracy to commit crop insurance fraud.

ALBANY, NEW YORK – Hector J. Sanchez, age 29, of Rensselaer, New York, was arrested today on an indictment charging him with six counts of mail fraud and three counts of aggravated identity theft related to filing for, and receiving more than $80,000 in benefits from, false unemployment insurance claims. The alleged false claims exploited federal programs intended to aid out-of-work New Yorkers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

PITTSBURGH, PA - A resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has been sentenced in federal court to six months in prison followed by two years of supervised release on his conviction of theft of government funds and willful failure to file tax returns, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced today. Chief United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak imposed the sentence on Louis Impell, 58, of Pittsburgh, PA 15210.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – On September 9, 2021, Dios E. Tate, 32, currently of Knoxville, Tennessee, was sentenced in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee at Knoxville, to serve 24 months in federal prison, followed by one year of supervised release, by the Honorable Thomas Varlan, U.S. District Judge.

Miami, Florida — Former Florida Department of Corrections officer, Terrance Reynolds, 31, was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Donald L. Graham to 33 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release. Reynolds was convicted following a 14-day trial for conspiring to assault youthful offender inmates at the South Florida Reception Center, a prison located in Doral, Florida.  A second former officer previously pleaded guilty in this case and was sentenced in federal court.

          LOS ANGELES – A former California Employment Development Department (EDD) employee has agreed to plead guilty to a federal criminal charge for causing nearly 200 fraudulent COVID-related unemployment relief claims to be filed in other people’s names, resulting in more than $1.6 million in ill-gotten gains, the Justice Department announced today.
