PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A West Warwick man who arranged for the sale of substantial quantities of fentanyl-laced counterfeit OxyContin to an undercover member of the Rhode Island DEA Drug Task Force was sentenced today to four years in federal prison, announced United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha. Richard Delsanto, 29, pleaded guilty in February to distributing 40 grams or more of fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Dennis Gene Godbolt, 66, of Buckeye, Arizona, was sentenced today by Senior U.S. District Judge David G. Campbell to five years of supervised probation and ordered to pay $95,000 in restitution to the Department of Veteran Affairs. Godbolt previously pleaded guilty to one count of Theft of Government Property, a felony offense.

          LOS ANGELES – A corrections officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) pleaded guilty today in federal court to one felony count of deprivation of rights under color of law for sexually assaulting a woman in custody in December 2020.           Jose Viera, 49, of Monterey Park, pleaded guilty before United States District Judge Otis D. Wright II.

CAMDEN, N.J. – A Camden County, New Jersey, man was sentenced today to 46 months in prison for distributing and conspiring to distribute oxycodone pills, making him the ninth person sentenced for his role in a drug trafficking ring operating in and around Camden and Gloucester City, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced.

Yakima, Washington – Vanessa R. Waldref, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District  of Washington, has announced that Karla Padilla, age 48, of Yakima, Washington, was indicted this week on seven counts of fraudulently obtaining COVID-19 relief funding. This Indictment is the most recent set of charges resulting from the COVID-19 Relief Fraud Strike Force launched by the U.S. Attorney’s Office earlier this year.

LAREDO, Texas – A 36-year-old former Border Patrol (BP) agent has been ordered to federal prison for conspiring to transport an undocumented alien within the United States, announced U.S. Attorney Jennifer B. Lowery. Rodney Tolson Jr., Laredo, pleaded guilty July 15, 2021.

DETROIT - Verdine Day, the former Treasurer of the Detroit Fire Fighters Union (DFFA), was sentenced to one year in federal prison for embezzling over $200,000 in union funds, announced U.S. Attorney Dawn N. Ison today. Joining Ison in the announcement were James A. Tarasca, Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Irene Lindow, Special Agent-in-Charge, Chicago Region, U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General.
