Rec. 1.a: The DoD OIG recommended that the Administrator, DoD Office of Small Business Programs, Small Business Innovation Research Office, issue single, overarching guidance and related training for all DoD organizations to follow that will provide for the uniform application of intellectual property protections across DoD. Guidance and training should include: 1. standard intellectual property protections within the Small Business Innovation Research Program, including the use and application of the data assertions table; and 2. when the protection period begins and when it can be extended.
