Lowell Postal Carrier Arrested on Bribery and Cocaine Charges

BOSTON – A Lowell postal worker has been arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe and sell cocaine to a postal supervisor.

John Noviello, of Nashua, N.H., 61, was charged with one count of bribery of a public official and one count of distribution of cocaine. Noviello was released on conditions following an initial appearance in federal court in Boston on May 12, 2022.

Spokane Resident Pleads Guilty to Fraudulently Obtaining More Than $50,000 in COVID-19 Relief Funds

Spokane, Washington – Vanessa R. Waldref, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, announced today that Roshon Edward Thomas, 52, of Spokane, Washington, has pleaded guilty to fraudulently obtaining more than $50,000 in COVID-19 relief funds. This case is part of the COVID-19 Relief Fraud Strike Force launched by the U.S. Attorney’s Office earlier this year. Senior Judge Rosanna Malouf Peterson accepted Thomas’ guilty plea and set sentencing for August 16, 2022, in Spokane.

Hilo Man Pleads Guilty to Defrauding Paycheck Protection and Disaster Loan Programs

HONOLULU – Carey Mills, 43, of Hilo, Hawaii pleaded guilty today before U.S. District Judge Derrick K. Watson to a single-count Information, charging him with wire fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud the Government of program funds intended for Coronavirus-related relief. Sentencing is scheduled for October 4, 2022. Mills faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 30 years and a fine of up to $1,000,000.

University Of Maryland Shore Regional Health Agrees to Pay $296,870 to Settle Federal False Claims Act Allegations of Billing for Unsupervised Radiation Therapy and Diagnostic Services

Baltimore, Maryland – The University of Maryland Shore Regional Health in Easton, Maryland (“Shore Health”), has agreed to pay the United States $296,870 to resolve allegations that it violated the federal False Claims Act by submitting false claims to the United States for radiation therapy and diagnostic services that lacked the required supervision from a physician.
