We recommend the Chief Operating Officer for FSA establish and document policies and procedures for discharging loans associated with approved claims with certain characteristics. These characteristics include (a) borrowers enrolled in multiple programs and at least one program is eligible for relief, (b) the borrower received a loan disbursement after the school closed, (c) the discharge is impacted by a State’s statute of limitations, and (d) the borrower’s loan is a Federal Family Education Loan program loan or a Perkins loan.
