ST. PAUL, Minn. - A Maple Grove man has been convicted by a federal jury for his role in a $1.4 million Medicare fraud conspiracy, announced United States Attorney Andrew M. Luger.

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK – Muhammad Z. Aabdin, age 32, of the Bronx, New York, pled guilty today to offering a bribe to a public official, announced United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Special Agent in Charge Christopher F. Algieri, Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General, Northeast Field Office.

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – Courtney B. Sedler, of Clarksburg, West Virginia, was indicted today on threat charges, United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld announced.
Sedler, 30, was indicted today on three counts of “Influencing Federal Officer by Threat.” Sedler threatened to kill Vincent Kennedy, Chief of the Veterans Affairs Police, on three separate occasions in February, March, and October 2022.

HOUSTON – The last convicted in a large-scale multi-year home health fraud conspiracy has been ordered to federal prison, announced U.S. Attorney Jennifer B. Lowery.
Felix Amos, 72, Houston, pleaded guilty Dec. 18, 2018, to conspiracy to commit health care fraud.
Today, U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen ordered him to serve 30 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release. He was further ordered to pay $21,197,440 in restitution.

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - The leader of an international conspiracy to file false U.S. tax returns and obtain millions of dollars in refunds has been convicted in federal court in West Virginia.

WASHINGTON — A former U.S. Capitol Police officer was found guilty by a jury today of a federal charge of obstruction of justice stemming from his communications with a rioter and his actions in the aftermath of the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, which disrupted a joint session of the U.S. Congress that was in the process of ascertaining and counting the electoral votes related to the presidential election.

ANCHORAGE – A federal jury convicted an Eagle River nurse practitioner on 10 felony counts, including five counts of distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death, four counts of distribution and dispensing of a controlled substance and one count of maintaining a drug involved premises. The conviction follows a four-week trial before U.S. District Judge Joshua M. Kindred.
