A doctor licensed in the states of Oklahoma and Texas was sentenced for writing and referring compounded drug prescriptions in return for illegal kickback payments, announced U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson. U.S. District Judge Daniel L. Hovland sentenced Jerry May Keepers, 69, of Kingwood, Texas, to 36 months of supervised probation. Restitution will be determined at a later date. Keepers will pay no more than $1,518,180.46 in restitution according to his plea agreement.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A federal grand jury in Charlotte has indicted three individuals for conspiring to fraudulently obtain more than $1 million in COVID-19 relief funds administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA) through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), announced Dena J. King, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

MACON, Ga. – A Macon resident who collected monthly disability benefits while running a successful cleaning company – which he never disclosed to the government – was convicted by a jury this morning on federal charges for theft and making false claims.

NEW ORLEANS – United States Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that NICOLE COCKERHAM (“COCKERHAM”), age 43, of Houma, Louisiana, was sentenced on October 18, 2022 for  Theft of Government Funds, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 641.

LAS VEGAS – A former Special Agent assigned to the U.S. National Park Service, Lake Mead Resident Office in Boulder City, Nev., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey for submitting false information about his work experience and education on his job application for a federal law enforcement officer position.

Tampa, Florida – U.S. District Judge Steven D. Merryday has sentenced Ghasan Awad (60, Safety Harbor) to 27 months in federal prison for conspiracy to defraud and to make false statements to the United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”). The court also ordered Awad to make restitution to the USDA in the amount of $654,502.28.

PROVIDENCE – A Dominican national previously deported in 2004 following his conviction and incarceration on drug trafficking charges was sentenced on Monday to ten years in federal prison on illegal reentry, drug trafficking, and firearm charges, announced United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha.
