NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that DANIELLE COLEMAN, age 39, of New Orleans, Louisiana, pled guilty on January 19, 2023 before United States District Judge Carl J. Barbier to Theft of Government Funds, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 641.

Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that MATTHEW TAYLOR WITKOWSKI pled guilty today to a one-count criminal Information charging him with conspiracy to commit health care fraud.  WITKOWSKI is scheduled to be sentenced on April 20, 2023, before United States District Judge Denise Cote.

United States Attorney Clint Johnson today announced the results of the January 2023 Federal Grand Jury B. The following individuals have been charged with violations of United States law in indictments returned by the Grand Jury. The return of an indictment is a method of informing a defendant of alleged violations of federal law, which must be proven in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt to overcome a defendant’s presumption of innocence.

PITTSBURGH, PA – Two Pennsylvania men have been sentenced on their convictions for violating federal narcotics laws related to a nine-month Title III wiretap investigation into drug trafficking in and around the counties of Jefferson, Clearfield, and Allegheny, United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung announced today.

Defendant’s Brothers, Father and Mother Already Have Been Sentenced             WASHINGTON –Corry Blue Evans, 30, of New York, N.Y., pleaded guilty today to one count of bank fraud, stemming from a $4 million fraud, extortion, and money laundering scheme that involved multiple members of the defendant’s family.  The guilty plea was announced by U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Special Agent in Charge Wayne A. Jacobs, of the FBI Washington Field Office’s Criminal and Cyber Division.

CINCINNATI – A 76-year-old Cincinnati woman has been ordered to repay $461,780 that she illegally took from the Veterans Administration over 48 years by impersonating her mother, who died in 1973.   Irene Ferrin was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati today to five years of probation, including one year of home detention.

SAN JUAN, P.R. – Martín Scamaroni-Cintrón was sentenced on January 18, 2023 by United States District Court Judge Aida Delgado-Colón to 30 months in prison for laundering Unemployment Benefits and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) Funds from his bank account in Puerto Rico.

          LOS ANGELES – The former president and CEO of a Hollywood-based anti-poverty nonprofit agency has agreed to plead guilty to federal criminal charges for embezzling money from the nonprofit for his personal benefit and intentionally misapplying more than $600,000 in grant money to pay for unauthorized expenses and lying on his tax returns, the Justice Department announced today.
